The 1st amendment in the Bill of Rights gives an American the right of freedom of expression, freedom to petition, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, and the freedom of speech.

The freedom to assembly basically means that us Americans have the right to hold meetings and express, defend, and pursue their beliefs. The right to petition is that Americans have the right to demand certain things from the government, such as safety and freedom.
