Why did general lee fail during his last stand at the appomattox court house? he refused to use a total war strategy. his troops were weak and surrounded. his reinforcements did not arrive in time. his troops had deserted him completely.

    His troops were weak and surrounded I believe, as they were trying to retreat to their army in North Carolina they were cut off and lees only option was to surrender
