What can we do today as american citizens to protest laws that we consider unjust

We can go to court. there's a complicated system of whether or not it makes it to the Supreme Court (which is extremely unlikely), but there are also civil rights groups, petitions, special interest groups and you can join/start one of these to bring attention to the law you're protesting
