    1) Ancient maya government was formed on the basis that rulers were thought to have been god-like, which to some might suggest one unified state. However, the consensus amongst anthropologists supports that each major Maya city remained its own independent and sovereign entity with its own unique struggles for political power.

    3 Mayan's laws were very, very strict. It did not matter who you were but if you committed a crime you would be punished. Some of the punishments were things like a fine, or having all of your possessions sold or auctioned, or being sold into slavery or possibly getting thrown into a jail for a very long time

    4) their courts were very harsh and it was hard to be proven innocent
