    When suburbs started springing up around the United States after WWll there was a massive shift from the country or city life to suburbs. The suburbs were basically cookie cutter houses that lined blocks for miles. At this time conformity was a huge deal, so everyone had identical houses, cars, they watched the same television shows, ate at the same restaurants, etc.
