Why was freedom of religion added to the First Amendment?

    The reason why freedom of religion has been added to the first amendment was because of the reason that the religious beliefs that the colonist believe and uphold led them to suffer for persecution that led it to be added to the first amendment in means of having to make individuals to have freedom in regards with their religion.
