Many historians date the beginning of the Middle Ages to the Fall of Rome in 476 AD.

There are a few problems with the date 476.

First of all, some historians date the beginning of the Middle Ages to the year 1000 AD, 1066 AD, or some other date in the 10th or 11th century; these people refer to the period of 476 to 1000 as the Dark Ages.

The next problem is that Rome did not fall in 476. What did happen was a bit more complicated than a simple fall of a government.
