Why did many chinese find communism appealing?

    Before the communist government formed, the economy was leaning more to market, which didn't work well for the people. Over 75% of the workers were in poverty while the "big wigs" had all the money. Since communism is all people receiving equal amounts, a "classless society" was appealing to most (except the rich, which were few and far between)
