Democratic progress may depend on economic security. For instance, if citizens feel they are financially secured, they may more likely take part in political processes. And similar, if the nation faces economic problems and less money is spent on citizens, then the government will lose public support. The more money the citizens have, the greater is their stake in the future of the nation and democratic progress.
