The overall goal of labor unions during the late 1800s and early 1900s was to protect workers from heavy abuses by their employers--abuses such as working incredibly long hours and working in very dangerous factory conditions.

The main goal of the labor unions during the late 1800s and early 1900s was fighting for better wages, better working conditions that included safety and reasonable hours of work. The struggle was also against child labor and getting health benefits for the workers and their families. The target was also to get sufficient aid for those workers that got injured during their work. Before the revolution, the workers had to work for unlimited hours and also under inhuman conditions.
