Why did the French oppose in confederation in Canada?

    The French opposed the confederation in Canada because they felt that it was simply a form of annexation to Canada itself as a province. The Canadian Confederation is the procedure where the the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia which were British are united into one big colony of Canada. The date by which the said confederation was done was in the 1st of July 1867.
