How were industrialization imperialism related

Industrialization expanded the need for raw materials and cheap labor enhancing the desire for imperialism. European countries needed more natural resources after industrialization, which led to the colonization of Africa and its resources. It gave the European powers a technical edge over the rest of the world. Imperialism existed long before the Industrial Revolution started in the 18th century. Better weapons and modern navies just made them that much stronger.
