What started the Civil War in 1861?

The southern states wanted to leave the Union because they don't like President Lincoln and don't want to follow the Union's way.

Is it similar to today where Donald Trump became president and California want's to leave the Union because they hate Trump. is it similar to the civil war in 1861 and today.

    The Civil War began when the Confederates bombarded Union Soldiers at Fort Summer. And, yes, it did start from the different views from the South and North that came with President Lincoln.
