    D. Land of precious things.

Many native American peoples lived in El Salvador before the Spanish conquest. Conquistadores (Spanish fighters who had come to colonize the land) led many fights against the indigenous peoples to take over the land and this caused many grueling battles between the two. The Pipil people called El Salvador the land of precious things, as it was rich in natural resources, such as cocoa and fruit. Once industrialized, the Pipil peoople were happy to work in the cotton textiles and developed a wide ranging trade network for woven goods as well as agricultural products.
