Why did the United States eventually enter World War I? Germany violated Belgium neutrality. German U-boats sank ships with Americans aboard. The balance of power changed with the surrender of Russia.

    Although the United States was very isolationist before World War I, the United States eventually entered the war because German U-Boas were sinking American ships.
