    Rule of Augustus mark the sumbolic end of repuhlic and begining of empire but it should be noticed that term 'imperium' for all Roman possessions outside of Italy was in use since the last war with Carthage and naming Rome republic continued often till 3d century but since Augustus the system known as prinicipate started which gave the main rule to princeps in person of emperoro (imperator caesar)
