Why is quechua still present in modern-day south america

Quechua is still relevant in modern South America because some of the people continues to use the language in their day-to-day activities. Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador recognizes Quechua as their national language. Despite the fact that this language cannot be converted into writing, people continue to use the language in terms of speaking.
