1) the ability to grow and harvest crops on land, rather than relying on the natural landscapes.

2) Safety and Security, you wouldn't have to rely on different travel routes that you didn't have claim to.

3) Urban culture centers, a lot of the cultural movements, such as libraries (the library of Alexandria), expansive works of art (the Renaissance) are not possible when adhering to the nomadic lifestyle.
