The civil rights movement was a movement designed to give everyone equal rights regardless of skin color. This was because minorietes mainly African Americans were treated unfairly.

This movement had leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X. Their views clashed.

King believed that racial equality would come gradually with years of protest and patience. He was peaceful and did not believe in using force as he felt that would only make the problem worse.

X believed that racial equality should be immediate and if not he though that any means necessary including violence. Many though his views were good but too extreme.
