    D. The Japanese attacked the U. S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This was not a mistake due to the fact it was a genius plan to wipe out the majority of the American Fleet. However other factors like the aircraft carriers not being in port did make it not as much of an impact as it should have.
