Why did the number of strikes greatly increase in the years immediately following World War I? The Ku Klux Klan engaged in criminal activity against workers. The government cancelled their defense contracts and were laying off people. The began to strike because the it would no longer interfere with the war effort. They had a no-strike agreement with the government while the war was going on. The correct answer will be C.
