A monarch passes his royal power to his son or someone directly from his family. As far as I know, in a Ghanaian society, a monarch passes his royalpower to his nephew or his sister's son. The way of inheritance is matrilinear. The monarch cannot pass royal power to his son because it is believed that children take their mothers families. Women are important in chieftaincy in the Ghanaian society. for instance it is the queen or queenmother who places a nominee on the throne. This is what I think.
