    The part of France that collaborated with Germany during World War II became later known as Vichy France. It was called Vichy France after the town in France with the same name - Vichy, which at the time served an important administrative role for these parts of France. Vichy France at the time was lead by Marshal Philippe Pétain, also known as the Lion of Verdun for his great leadership in the World War I.
