In 1916, Woodrow Wilson ordered General John J. Pershing to lead U. S. troops into Mexico to capture Pancho Villa. Pancho Villa was a Mexican revolutionary that almost brought Mexico and United States into war when the Mexican troops attacked American troops headed by U. S. Brigadier General John J. Pershing at Carrizal, Mexico. The attacked caused 22 casualties and more than 30 Mexicans were dead. Due to the Pershing's pursuit of Villa, he deeply penetrated Mexico and even continued the search to southernmost part.
