How did president roosevelt influence the 1902 coal strike?

    Roosevelt called for an investigation into the causes of the strike. While this commission was working the strike was suspended by mutual agreement between the union and the coal mine owners. The strike was never resumed because negotiations under the government mediation were successful. This was the first instance of government intervention into labor conflicts.
