Why didn't President Polk want to go to war with Great Britain over Oregon?

Polk was not interested in acquiring Oregon.

Polk expected to go to war with Mexico over Texas.

Polk wanted to promote trade with British fur traders.

Polk realized not many Americans wanted to settle there.
