What is the significance of the truman doctrine to the cold war? it stated that the united states would declare war against any nuclear buildup. it committed the public to containment as a defense of freedom. it proposed a moratorium on u. s. trade with communist nations. it supported replacing communist leaders with dictators.

    The truman doctrine was meant to contain the spread of communism, also president truman offer military and economic aid to turkey and greece and other regions to contain the spread as communism and they did support dictators but only the ones that were closer to a democratic side.
