The case of Gitlow v. New York resulted in the Supreme Court guaranteeing the right expressed in the first amendment: freedom of expression. The case went to the court because Gitlow published a communist manifesto and was accused for anarchic crimes. The biggest problem occurred in a brief conflict between the Federation and the State of New York, accused of abusing its powers. As a result: Gitlow was convicted of his crimes and NY admittedly abused his authority. Hugs!
