    President McKinley was reelected, he was just assassinated very early on in his second term. The war ended in the favor of the US, so the Spanish empire didn't emerge stronger than ever. The Philippines didn't embrace American rule and eventually there was the Philippine-American War. So B, C, and D are incorrect. As well, US policies in the Philippines and Puerto Rico did resemble Imperials, so A is the correct answer.
