Why did the American colonies declare their independence from the British empire

I believe this is either by the Declaration of Independence or rebelling

"Taxation without representation!"

There were multiple reasons, but a big one was that they were kinda peeved about sending all this money back to the King without it benefiting them, and on top of that they were being controlled more and more
