What did lewis Cass mean when he said "We must frequently promote their interest against their inclination."

    I think this pertains to the Native Americans when they were given benefits and privileges. They don't understand that in a way this was already a step to let them forget by turning them through enculturation. It stops them for their struggle to self-determination and their indigenous right.
