    B. The conflict. The story begins in Salinas Valley where Elisa and Henry live together. While Elisa plants the chrysanthemums in a tedious and highly detailed manner, she is conflicted with bigger dreams in life and currently pours her entire passion in planting the chrysanthemums to perfection. She wishes more to be happy and gets into an argument with Henry about wanting more from life, which he fails to properly understand.
