    D. The Aztecs had a complex civilization that was destroyed by the Spanish conquerors.

The conquistadores were very precise with what they were going to South and Central America to do. They wanted to convert the indigenous people and teach them Spanish. This was how they destroyed the Aztec culture, by taking control of many of the powers the Aztecs had over their civilization. Their still remains today ruins and descendants of the Aztecs although their civilization has been completely destroyed.
