The mujahideen were fighters in Afghanistan who rebelled against the communists. The Soviet Union was trying to take over the country and at the time they were the only type of army in the country, even though they are usually thought of as a guerilla-type warfare army. They were also known as Holy Warriors and rebelled against the Soviet troops, who brought in more troops. The Mujahideen were also aided by other countries who sent them troops and funding.
