Feudalism was similar to a pecking order, or a hierarchy. Everyone was protected by vows to one another. To be honest, everyone had something they owed to another person in some way or another. Need more info?

Feudalism offered an interdependent relationship between the people of Europe, Nobles offered protection to those who worked on his lands. The Clergy offered spiritual or religious guidance to everyone, or hope in other words (they also knew how to read and write, this offered an education to the higher class as well as the literature we use to understand that era today). peasants did the labor and the work, this is what produced food, housing, as well as supplies for the society. unfortunately, almost all of Europe were peasants.
