    It was important because it created space for women's privacy. Before the case, states could ban abortions if they wanted to. After the case, the supreme court decided that no state may prohibit abortion in the first trimester, but they can if they want to in the second and third. This was because Texas forbade abortions completely and now they had to do them if women wanted them. The debate on abortions is still fought today.
