How did technology affect WWI? What were new weapons of WWI?

I really think it was theM1 rifle, I can't think of anything else. I do know that they had communication by telegraph. I was born after WW2.

Technology made WW1 heavily trench based; unlike previous wars, the battles of WW1 did not amount to much movement / land gain. because of new technology like poison gas and heavy artillery, trench warfare was quite common.
