Many states had problems with the terms of the Articles of Confederation and were slow to ratify the document because:

A. many claimed more land was in an original charter, extending to the Mississippi River.

b. many wanted an executive office for the country.

c. some states preferred to not join a Union.

d. many states wanted land not named in the Articles to become national land.
