Personally, Lincoln was opposed to slavery. Why then, did he not end it the moment he was elected president?

    He was going to eventually put slavery into extinction by stopping it's further expansion in the U. S. territory. But he was going to wait for the 13th Amendment to do put slavery into extinction.
