The gold rush began on January 24th, in 1884. The gold was found in California. It was a big deal and people were pushed off of there land by forty niners. San Francisco went from a small town with 200 residents to a boomtown. the gold rush brought a lot of people to the united states. The people often became vigilante when other people tried to take there gold or tried to go onto their land and take there gold.
