The system of mass production came to be known as the American system because it is in America that it achieved its fullest maturity. In 1913 Henry Ford, designed an assembly line whose result a remarkable reduction of manufacturing time for magneto flywheels from 20 minutes to five minutes. Mass production system from then developed rapidly such that by the 1970s and 80s, many developed nations began to build huge factories in 3rd world countries because goods could be manufactured en mass at much lower labor and production costs than at home, thus increasing profits.
