How did the Great Schism of 1378 affect Wstern Europe?

    Because of the Great Schism, There were two popes in Western Europe. This was because of Pope Urban VI’s abusive behaviour towards the cardinals in Rome. Because of this king Charles V the Wise was force to declare that papacy of Pope Urban the VI was void and thus elected Pope Clement VII
