    Rail roads encouraged the growth of settlement in the West because they make travelling over long distances easier, faster, cost effective and more comfortable. More people were willing to travel and this attract a lot of people to the West. Because of easier transportation, goods were easily transported and this make industries to thrive in the West which also attract workers to the place. Rail roads attracted people, cities and new bussinesses to the West.
