    Robert Walton on his second letter told his sister that he has hired a vessel and is occupied in collecting his sailors. This step was the second step that was needed for his enterprise.

    Included in this letter was his complaint of how time seemed to drag with all the snow and frost. He also complained about his lack of friends.
