Whites accused chinese workers on the West Coast of taking

During periods of high immigration rates from Asia and other parts of the world many white Americans became very ant-immigration because they believed that new immigrants were "taking jobs" or preventing them from finding work. Therefore, these individuals supported racist policies or were racist in their actions and beliefs towards new immigrant populations. In California this was aimed at newly immigrated Chinese nationals.
