The unites states fought in World War II to defeat dictators and preserve democracy. In this fight to defend democracy, however, The United States denied democracy to some of it's own citizens. Describe how it happened and who was denied rights.

    During World War II, the United States was still heavily segregated, especially in the South. Still, many African Americans were asked to contribute to the war effort, which caused many complaints and was a major reason the Civil Rights movement took hold in the 50s and 60s.
