The British Empire gained a footing in India through the British East India Company, Mughal Empire, Indian National Congress. After the British government suppressed the Sepoy Rebellion, India became a direct colony of Britain in 1834, 1898, 1858. The Muslim League, Indian National Congress, Sepoy Union was a prominent political party founded by Indian nationalists.

    The British Empire gained a footing in India through the British East India Company, Mughal Empire, Indian National Congress. Their goal was to get spices and other goods found in Asia, soldiers for their armies and navies and workers for their factories and mills.
