How was the United States seen by other countries before world war 2?

    It was seen a a very powerful country

    It was also known as a nation that would not make permanent alliances with other countries or become involved/intervene with the foreign affairs of other nations much. The only other exception to this was World War I. They were also considered fiercely independent and a pretty formidable country by then.
