Which parts of the country did Dewey win? Why do you think he did so well in these areas?

Dewey won the richer parts of the country because his campaign was targeted to the middle and upper-class Americans. He lost to the areas where most average Americans lived. Truman won the election because his campaign reached out to the majority of the American people.
