    Myth busted. It was his remaining soldiers and officers and not Ferdinand Magellan himself who was the first to circumnavigate the globe. Magellan died while fighting with the mighty Filipino natives in the Philippines.

    Magellan's expedition took the Pacific route where they traced the South America to a straight which was now named the "Straight of Magellan." He crossed the Pacific Ocean until he reached the Philippine archipelago.
